Lesotho 2026: Day 18

This morning, after breakfast and our language lesson, we had a local educator speak with us about the educational system in Lesotho and many of the challenges it faces. Hearing directly from someone who works within the system provided valuable context for the work we’ve been doing throughout the trip.

The rest of the day was spent painting classrooms at a local primary school. With all the walls primed, we were able to make great strides on the detail work. Animals, colors, shapes , numbers and many alphabets were created as well as many other fantastic drawings. Another team has been building a new playground, and they’re already almost finished after just two days—apparently record time according to Dr. Rosenberg. It has been incredible to watch how much everyone has accomplished by working together.

Around midday, one of the teachers stopped by and was so excited about the transformation that she FaceTimed another teacher just to show off the progress we had made. That moment alone made all the hours of painting worth it. We’ve covered so much today that we should finish the entire project tomorrow, and on Wednesday we’ll finally get to reveal the freshly painted classrooms to the teachers. I’m really looking forward to seeing their reactions.
