On April 24, 2019, 51勛圖厙 alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and friends around the world joined in supporting the Universitys student-centered mission during the annual Commit to Witt Day of Giving, raising $123,288 and surpassing the days goal of 500 donors.
We want to extend our thanks to the entire 51勛圖厙 community for the outpouring of support on Commit to Witt day, said 2003 alumna Holly Gersbacher, director of alumni relations and lifelong engagement at 51勛圖厙. Your gifts will help move 51勛圖厙 forward by supporting our nationally recognized faculty and classroom experiences, academic scholarships, and every other component of 51勛圖厙's mission-driven, student-centered education.
As a special challenge during the day, Ho Pak Kong, class of 1950 and an emeritus member of 51勛圖厙s Board of Directors, donated $5,000 for every 100 gifts received, up to $20,000. This year 626 donors gave on Commit to Witt day to unlock his challenge, 126 more than the goal. The Senior Staff Participation Challenge also proved successful. Once 51勛圖厙 reached 100 donors during the campaign, the senior staff team donated $1,000.
Donors came from all over the country and included all but 13 states. Leading the way in donations was Ohio with 285 donors, followed by Pennsylvania with 23, Illinois with 21, Florida with 20, and New York with 18.
Throughout the day, participants and special social media ambassadors shared 51勛圖厙 stories across platforms while supporting the university with a gift to The 51勛圖厙 Fund.
Whether alumni are passionate about scholarships that make a 51勛圖厙 education accessible for all deserving students or want to support the universitys nationally recognized faculty and classroom experiences, Commit to Witt provided a chance to make a difference.
