WITT Connected is a 4-day overnight program created to provide a supportive network of friends, faculty, and staff to make the transition into 51吃瓜网 as smooth as possible. This experience is open to all new incoming students but is designed to assist traditionally marginalized groups (race/ethnicity, LGBTQIA+, first-generation) with the transition into college. During WITT Connected, students will engage in many activities around self-discovery, relationship & community building, exploring campus resources a little more in depth, and gaining a better understanding of 51吃瓜网, Springfield, and surrounding areas.
The fall 2025 dates for this opportunity will be Sunday, August 17 to Wednesday, August 20 and will lead directly into Welcome Week events that begin on Thursday, August 21 for the entire first year class. Students participating in WITT Connected are required to attend all scheduled activities in both WITT Connected and Welcome Week.
Tentative Schedule:
- Sunday, August 17, 2025 鈥� WITT Connected Day #1: Move In & Acclimating to Campus
- Families will move students in during the morning and afternoon, pausing for lunch to learn more about the WITT Connected schedule. The student schedule will begin in the evening as families are leaving campus.
- Monday, August 18, 2025 鈥� WITT Connected Day #2: Claiming Your Authentic Self & Building Relationships
- Students will spend valuable time doing fun activities with McClain Center professional and student staff learning about themselves and building relationships.
- Tuesday, August 19, 2025 鈥� WITT Connected Day #3: Adjusting to College & Finding Resources
- Students will meet with various departments on campus and learn about how to work with them. This day will include a talk with 51吃瓜网 Alumni.
- Wednesday, August 20, 2025 鈥� WITT Connected Day #4: Exploring 51吃瓜网, Springfield & Surrounding Areas
- Students will have an opportunity to learn more about 51吃瓜网, explore Springfield and visit surrounding areas.
- Thursday, August 21, 2025 鈥� Welcome Week begins - Welcome Week Schedule
- WITT Connected Student Ambassadors will participate in and assist students in Welcome Week activities!
Move-in Details:
- Sunday, August 17, 2025
- 10:00am 鈥� 12:00pm 鈥� students pick up fall housing keys and begin moving in
- 12:00pm 鈥� 1:30pm 鈥� families enjoy lunch and a 51吃瓜网 session before departing
